I am going ice-fishing tomorrow and for some reason I can’t seem to get my butt going to prep. Its the first ice-fish of the season and I can’t say that I have my gear in order. I’ve organized my garage so I have a section dedicated to this winter pursuit, but I expect it will be an early morning running around grabbing far too much to drag onto the with me.
Not having even confirmed the lake I am fishing, I do know that I will target Pike. Here is what I’ll have to pull together in short order:
- a series of spoons and large jigs
- a bunch of treble hooks
- ice fishing line
- two tip-ups
- some herring left out overnight to get nice and stinky
- an auger
- a large spoon for scooping and scraping the hole
- snacks
- digital camera
- notebook and pen
- gps to find any holes from last year and mark any new ones or structure
- spreaders for Pike jaws
- bonker
- a fishing rod
- waterproof matches and firestarter
I’ll probably drill two holes, set up a tip-up with herring in one and then jig another.
Looking forward to it. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’m envious,well can’t have everything!
But a round of golf last thursday was nothing to sneeze at.
Have fun, looking forward to your report.
Cheers Dad
