Great Beginner Fly-tying Video - Buzzers

December 08, 2008 at 5:23 pm

If a picture is worth a thousand works, then a video is worth a hundred thousand?  To accompany yesterday’s post on Tying One on this Christmas I have attached the following youtube video.  This is a great intro video, with solid technique and a fly relevant for fishing Yukon’s lakes.

They refer to a fly called the ‘buzzer”.  This the british way of referring to a chironomid or midge pupae. These flies are very effective in our lakes, catching Rainbow’s, Grayling or virtually anything else that feeds on small bugs. Rather than try and explain the deal with these flies, I will refer to a great report written by the the BC based Chironomid expert Brian Chan.
